Persons in control or management of a workplace must ensure adequate control of asbestos exposure risk to building occupants, employees, contractors and visitors. This responsibility may be shared between the property owner or agents, a tenant employer, or other responsible persons occupying the workplace.
All Australian states require the identification of asbestos and the preparation of an Asbestos Register detailing the location and condition of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) in the workplace. The potential for exposure needs to be considered when determining a suitable control measure. Factors to consider when assessing the potential for exposure include: asbestos material condition and friability, accessibility, type of activities being undertaken and the potential for disturbance of the ACMs.
To ensure your workplace safety, ESP recommends the development of an Asbestos Management Plan (AMP). In states where the National Code of Practice is embedded in regulation, an AMP is mandatory.
An AMP must be made available to contractors and visitors to your site along with employee consultation on risk controls and measures to prevent exposure to asbestos.
Our professional consultants will inspect your workplace or development site to identify and sample materials suspected of containing asbestos and other hazardous materials, and assess the likelihood of your workplace activities damaging or disturbing suspected ACMs. Samples obtained from site materials will be returned to our NATA accredited laboratory to determine the presence and type of asbestos. You will receive a comprehensive, site specific report detailing the location and type of hazardous materials identified along with remedial action to comply with regulatory requirements and keep your workplace safe.
Integrate our site specific Asbestos Management Plan with your ongoing operations to mitigate workplace risks and train your staff for improved workplace safety.
